Behind behavior and facial expression is funny and adorable, the baby is still fragile against various threat of disease syndromes. One that should be known is Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, or SIDS is often known by the term.

SIDS is the sudden death of an apparently healthy infant. From a variety of health literature found that the similarity of this syndrome most commonly occurs in infants aged two and three months. This syndrome strikes more baby boy rather than a baby girl and is usually more common during cold weather.

Unfortunately, until now the cause is not known with certainty. Occasionally, a bias occurs in infants who had just suffered a mild cold. However, SIDS is more common with no previous abnormal symptoms.

Although the cause is very difficult to understand, slowly but surely the experts of health issues find a point about the disease. There are new facts which explain that babies exposed to high risk of this syndrome include premature or weighing the infant low birth weight, infant to elderly active smoker or user of illegal drugs, and babies who have died of SIDS siblings. Babies who managed to stop breathing and then given artificial respiration assistance, and babies have a low Apgar score at birth is also vulnerable to the risk of SIDS.

To help reduce this risk, there are some that can be organized in practice, such as infants sleep in the supine position, not prone. Then, the baby should sleep on a hard mattress. Avoid using a thick layer of the mattress and its software. Why so? Because the material is too soft and it will make a baby just bias embedded in the mattress and cause difficulty breathing.

Other factors believed to reducing risk of SIDS are to routinely provide breast milk exclusively. In addition, environmental conditions have created smoke-free for baby. Not to forget, try to create a warm environment similar to your needs. If you feel comfortable and also get fit with room temperature, ideally baby can also feel comfortable.
