Occult Dress

Occultism is some nonmainstream Western organization of theology with the aim of uses the unexplained, the definition of the unexplained being the way in which interior feelings are used to effect changes in the outside humankind. Occultists, such as northern European Pagans like Wiccans, Druids, and witches and official magicians (Cabalists, hermetic, and the like) practice the unexplained as part of their religions. Occult dress is used whilst participating in the unexplained rites, rituals, or ceremonies. Western occult dress has three primary functions: 

(1) to expressively place the wearer in an extraordinary perceive of truth;
(2) To identify the status of the wearer inside a social set; and
(3) To indicate the beliefs of the wearer.

Clothing Occult beliefs promote nudity as occult dress, for the reason that clothing is held to impede the pour of magical energies through the body from the surrounding natural world. Wicca practitioners and witches maintain traditionally per- formed rites in the unclothed to reveal their loyalty to the Wiccan goddess. Due to modesty or weather, selected occultists wear robes or tunics with bare feet and rebuff undefragments. This latter dress is held to still allow the pour of magical energies. Many covens and magical groups maintain collection occult dress guidelines, using tradition or individual tastes as a basis in place of these guidelines. Occult dress, especially nudity, is not a general Western mode of dress; therefore it expressively alerts and reinforces the awareness of special occasions and presence of the unexplained in place of occultists. Each magical set sets the guidelines in place of occult dress. There is not a particular literature, although a magical set may well pull inspiration from books, movies, or even more mainstream cultural practices. Some occult groups don garments emblematically highlighted according to a ceremony or routine. For instance, a Northern European Pagan coven may well don white clothes to celebrate Yule rites and organic clothes to celebrate Beltane festivals. Ceremonial the unexplained group, such as the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, maintains extensive magical color imagery, and like so some highlighted clothing is worn in place of a particular ritual. This is ready in order to mentally link the practitioner to the rites being per- formed, raising awareness and effectiveness of the spiritual ritual.

Occult dress is besides used to indicate status inside a set. Wiccan prohibitive priestesses of Alexandrian lineages indicate status to other initiates by a highlighted prop garter. Also, a waist cord may well be worn in the same set to indicate the wearer having taken oaths pertaining to a level of commencement. Other occult groups, such as the Order of Bards, Ovate, and Druids, who originated in England, wear highlighted robes denoting rank throughout selected occult ceremonies.
